PyeongChang 2018 : Olympic Test Events

For people who is living in Malaysia, we do not have a chance to experience winter season unless you travel to four season countries. The only winter sport that we can try is ice skating and we might be bad at it. So whenever there is a story about winter and snow, our eyes will be glued to the electronic screen, mesmerize by the white beautiful snow. For once in every four years, we are able to watch Winter Olympic Games and I always watch figure skating games! Really, how can they perform death spiral without falling to the ground?

Do you know when is the next Winter Olympic Games and who is the host? The next Olympic Winter Games will be held in year 2018 and South Korea is chosen to be the host. As I write today, South Korea has exactly 339 days before Pyeongchang 2018 The Olympic Winter Games. This will be the first Winter Olympic Games and second Olympic Games in South Korea. Everyone is excited! After two unsuccessful bidding, South Korea won the majority vote in year 2011. At the end of the day, they put all the work in, and eventually it will pay off!

Today, I want to share about Test Events. Test events are one of the major things to do before the actual games.

FIS Snowboard World Cup 2016/17 - official training day 1

WHAT ARE TEST EVENTS?

The test events will be a unique opportunity for athletes and officials to familiarise themselves with the competition venues and the host region. In total, 3,000 athletes are expected to participate in the test events – many of them coming to Korea for the first time – as well as 1,000 volunteers.

PURPOSE

- To ensure competition venues are operationally ready, especially the Field of Play and Timing, Scoring and Results system.
- To review operational assumptions and readiness of Functional Areas, delivery partners and stakeholders.
- To test and train venue teams and all venue-related workforce.

We always take things for granted

She is my good friend masa zaman PMR dulu. Form 3, sampaikan senior kata kami macam belangkas. Senior tu cakap tak pernah nampak kami berpisah kecuali nak ke toilet. Hahaha, lawak akak ni. But yes, memang rapat.

I thought I was strong. I tak pergi dengan kawan sekolah pun. I pergi dengan kawan lain yang kebetulan mengenali dia. So ingatkan kuatlah kan sebab I ingat kawan I ni pun kuat. Masa tengok tu, tak sedih sangatlah. Macam kesian je. Pegang tangan dia. Tengok muka dia.

"Dinding" tu roboh bila mak dia datang. Dengar mak dia cakap kat anak dia yang tengah "tidur" tu, teruslah kami tak dapat tahan air mata. Nak balik tu sempatlah peluk dia, cakap dengan dia walaupun dia mungkin tak dengar pun apa yang kami cakap.

Hmmm, baru je bulan sebelum tu, kami berbalas whatsapp. Berborak pasal LOTBS. Dia kata dia busy, tak sempat nak layan drama Korea. Dia minta recommend cerita apa yang best. Dia tu ceria je orangnya. Bila tengok dia jadi macam ni, hati siapa yang tak sedih. Kawan-kawan, minta doakan Nurulhuda Azni Abdul Manan.

A ganglion cyst is a soft tissue lump that may be associated with any joint, but most often occurs on, around, or near joints and tendons of the hands or feet. These cysts are caused by leakage of fluid from the joint into the surrounding tissue. The average size of these cysts is 2.0 cm, but excised cysts of more than 5 cm have been reported. The size of the cyst may vary over time, and may increase after activity.

The most commonly accepted cause of ganglion cysts is the "herniation hypothesis", by which they are thought to occur as "an out-pouching or distention of a weakened portion of a joint capsule or tendon sheath." This description is based on the observations that the cysts occur close to tendons and joints, the microscopic anatomy of the cyst resembles that of the tenosynovial tissue, the fluid is similar in composition to synovial fluid, and dye injected into the joint capsule frequently ends up in the cyst, which may become enlarged after activity. Dye injected into the cyst rarely enters the joint, however, which has been attributed to the formation of an effective and one-way "check valve" allowing fluid out of the joint, but not back in. Synovial cysts, posttraumatic degeneration of connective tissue, and inflammation have been considered as the causes. Other possible mechanisms for the development of ganglion cysts include repeated mechanical stress, facet arthrosis, myxoid degeneration of periarticular fibrous tissues and liquefaction with chronic damage, increased production of hyaluronic acid by fibroblasts, and a proliferation of mesenchymal cells. Ganglion cysts also may develop independently from a joint.

Ahaks, petik kat Wikipedia je sebab I sendiri tak reti nak explain walaupun I tahu. Sebenarnya, ia pernah berlaku beberapa tahun lepas. Come and go orang kata. February tahun lepas, barulah sakit tu makin kerap jadi. Dia punya sakit tu kan, sampai pernah la botol mayones yang besar tu terlepas dari tangan. Pecah berderai. Bila I cakap mcm tu, dia terlopong sebab tak sangka I dah hampir 10 tahun kahwin.

Sehari sebelum surgery dah kena masuk hospital. At first, second class bed dah penuh. Tapi I masuk jugalah. Duduk atas katil sementara. Tak lama lepas tu, doktor dah cucuk branula kat tangan. I don't mind kalau kena cucuk ambil darah ke, tapi branula ni memang tak suka sebab pergerakan akan jadi terbatas. Terasa jarum kat dalam tu kan? Sejak lepas tu, nurse ajak jumpa pakar bius. Masa tu pergi dengan lagi 2 orang pesakit yang nak buat surgery membuang breast lumps. Takut dengar cerita diorang ni. Dah la muda lagi.

Semasa jumpa pakar bius, dia cadangkan ambil local anaesthetic. Kiranya pengsan habis la masa surgery. Okay la, ikut aje. By the time pulang ke wad, dah ada katil kosong. Wad kelas 2 ada 6 katil sahaja. Agak jauh juga la kalau nak berbual tu. Masing-masing buat hal sendiri. Malam tu dah kena berpuasa. Lepas pukul 12, nurse bagi saline solution. Satu je la yang pelik. Setiap 2 jam kot, nurse datang ambil BP. I tak perasan samada ni dibuat kat semua patient ke tak. I cuma tahu sebabnya beberapa bulan kemudian. Will let you know on different entry, okay?

Kami taknak dia risau. Jadi husband kata I pergi outstation. Pagi tu barulah dia tahu. Tapi dia cool je.

Dewan bedah sangat sejuk. I rileks je la tapi doktor kata I anxious. I cakap, "No, I tak takut langsung". Which is true but they didn't believe it when the monitor said the other thing. Now, rasanya diorg percaya la kot apabila dapat tahu sebenarnya ada benda lain yang berlaku kat I masa tu.

Dipendekkan cerita, perkara terakhir yang I lihat dan dengar ialah lampu bilik bedah dan doktor cakap "Look out at the heart rate. It's too...". Pengsan.

Sedar-sedar je macam mamai, nurse tengah tukarkan baju. Lepas tu sedar betul-betul, dah kat katil. Tangan dah berbalut.

Lega sangatlah.

Selepas 3 hari, barulah balutan dibuka dan buat dressing. Jahitan dibuka selepas 2 minggu.

Sekarang dah tak rasa sakit dah. Parut luka pun ambil masa untuk nampak betul-betul cantik. Takpe la, yang penting dah tak sakit lagi.
